High Batts, East dales ringing group

Got to Ripon at 08:00 where we started putting nets up straight away. Over 70 new birds processed, Species being , Gt Spotted Woodpecker, Goldfinch, Blue tit, Gt Tit, Marsh Tit, Willow Tit, Long Tailed Tit. Chaffinch, Yellowhammer, Tree sparrow, Blackbird, Robin and Moorhen.

A great morning, thanks to Jill, Pete, Paul, Jim and everyone else.

Canon Netting at North Duffield

I was invited to North Duffield (near york) to take part in the Canon Netting off hopefully Wigeon. Got up and set off for 5:15am. We all met at 6:30 and off we set. Over 60 Wigeon processed 1 Gadwall and 1 Mallard. Had a great morning, thanks to Sara for inviting me and to everyone else for their help and advice.

Twite at Warley Moor reservoir

No Ringing but went up to the site to put feed down for the birds . 5 Twite flew straight away.Got some shots of the coloured rings.

Mere Sands Nature Reserve

Met the two Daves at 7:30, A sharp frost and a beautiful morning. Over 45 birds processed and 13 species, Gt Spotted woodpecker, Reed Bunting, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Siskin, Tree Sparrow, Coal Tit, Long Tailed Tit, Blue Tit, Gt Tit, Robin, and Dunnock.

The Most numerous species, 16 Reed Bunting.

Canon Netting at Heysham

I was Invited to Heysham to see them try and Canon Net some Knot . When I turned up at 9 o'clock their must of been 3-4000 Knot sat on the beech in thick fog. By Ten o'clock they had all flown away leaving the option of Oystercatcher. So that's what we did . Thanks to everybody involved, I had a great morning.
